Hi, let me introduce myself. I am Russell Davis, I qualified as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist with the Quest Institute back in 2008 (Q23) and set up in practice straight after qualification. I started the course purely out of interest and personal development not really expecting to be practising at the end. Having spent 17 years working for a large corporate I knew I wanted to find something that was more ‘me’. This was the main reason for doing the course, finding who I am. Like quite a few other people during the course I came to a realisation that practising Cognitive Hypnotherapy is what I wanted to be doing.

Having not been self employed before, having to find my own work (clients), I had a steep learning curve to climb and at first it felt quite daunting and very scary. I remember one lunchtime on a Quest weekend and one of the assistants got a call from a prospective client. At the time I couldn’t imagine that happening to me, however it is now second nature.

A key step along the way for me was realising it is not actually as complicated as it sounds. I realised although I may not know anything about marketing I can learn, and that is what I did. I spent 100’s of hours researching how to attract and get clients, build relationships with local stakeholders like GPs, internet marketing and much more.

From this I was quickly able to wind down the consulting I was doing in my old job and focus on what I loved doing, being a therapist and running my own business.

I am now a full time Cognitive Hypnotherapist with a range of activities:

• 1:1 clients face-to-face and online with clients all over the world.
• Charging 5x what other local hypnotherapists charge. 
• Can afford to be flexible with me fees.   
• Providing group coaching programmes.
• Selling over £1,000 of hypnosis downloads from a single email.
• Long term coaching clients.
• Speaking engagements including national TV and radio appearances.
• Got an unexpected tax bill of £8k. I created that extra income over the following 3 months.

Note: this is an investment in yourself and your practice which you should expect a return on. If you charge £80/session and on average a client has 3-6 sessions one extra client is worth over £300, 2 extra clients £600, 3 £900….you get the idea!
